In 1998, SBS ordered 20 Trident chassis but due to overwhelming orders from bus companies in Hong Kong, these 20 chassis arrived late. Coupled with the late arrival of Duple Metsec body parts, the assembly of the 20 Trident buses was delayed. In August 2001, these buses were finally on the roads.
All 20 Tridents are based at Hougang Depot. Just before the second phase of the Northeast Line rationalisation exercise, Tridents were deployed on 51, 64, 85, 111, 501 and 502. After the exercise, the deployment of Tridents was shuffled. Currently Tridents are deployed on 51, 64, 80, 147, 153 and 165.
1998年,新巴购买了二十架三叉戟巴士的底盘,但因为香港各巴士公司订购数量过多,这二十架底盘延迟抵达新加坡。加上都普车身零件也延迟抵新,这二十架三叉戟巴士的装嵌工作一拖再拖。2001年8月,这些巴士终于在路上川行。
所有二十辆三叉戟巴士都属于后港车场。在东北线第二阶段的巴士路线调整之前,三叉戟巴士川行51,64,85,111,501和502。路线调整后,三叉戟巴士的调配出现变动。目前三叉戟川行51,64,80,147,153和165。
